Justin Bieber Asks Judge To Dismiss $9M Hearing Loss Lawsuit

Justin Bieber is fighting back against a $9 million lawsuit filed by an Oregon woman who claims she suffered hearing loss after attending one of the singer’s concerts.
And the teen heartthrob’s attorneys want the suit thrown out.
Stacey Wilson Betts, who filed the lawsuit in July, alleges she was “injured by a sound blast that exceeded safe decibel levels” while attending Bieber’s July 14 concert with her daughter more than two years ago.
In court documents obtained by Celebuzz, Bieber’s attorneys and representatives for AEG Worldwide, Island Def Lam Records, and Vulcan Sports and Entertainment filed a motion to dismiss on Nov. 12 after being “unable to resolve theses disputes without the Court’s intervention.”
The motion asks that the court dismiss her allegations based on Betts’ “failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.”
If the lawsuit isn’t thrown out, a second motion also requests the court to require Betts “make a more definitive statement of the facts…that Bieber owed [her] a duty to control, or protect her from, crowd noise.”
And in other court battles involving the pop star, a judge in Bieber’s car chase case ruled Nov. 14 that the California paparazzi law — which forbids them to chase celebrities while taking photographs — is unconstitutional and threw out two of the four criminal counts against photographer Paul Raef.
But Biebs still has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, after reports reveal he won’t be charged with assaulting a paparazzo stemming from an incident in May.
Despite the singer’s legal woes, the 18-year-old’s personal life has also come under the microscope, with news of his split with girlfriend of one year, Selena Gomez, going public Nov. 11. Since then, the on-again, off-again twosome have been reportedly rekindling their young romance after being spotted together on date nights in L.A.
